What can I do to make the transition of 2012
as easy as possible?
Of course this is a decision that everyone will have to make for themselves. Without giving
value to "doomsday" and "the sky is falling" type of mentality, I prefer to focus only on what we
know about the surrounding conditions of 2012.
It is ironic that the Myan Calender ends at the exact time our solar system will pass through the
center of the Milky way. At the same time of the normal 11 year cycle of sun spot activity and
solar flares. It is also ironic that the Myan Calender is on a stone tablet that is called the "sun
wheel". And the Mayan Calender does certianly describe an end of times in 2012. End of the
world? We arent sure, but certianly an end of times.
If you yourself personally do a couple of hours of research on the Internet you will find factual
information that explains how we are certain to experience solar flare activity unlike any we
have ever experienced before. This is what we will face in 2012. This date will be the apex of
the transit of our solar system into the center of the Milky way.
The possible dangers of this activity could simply be a few days without power or cell phones,
as the solar winds blast the orbiting satellites and destroy some power girds. If the solar winds
are worse, we could loose our power systems for a sustained length of time, including all
automobiles that have computer chips. A little worse we could face radiation poisoning.
We know for sure we will have solar flares exceeding any we have had before. These flares
could begin as soon as 2010 as we move close to the center of the Milky way. They could
begin in 2011. Or they could wait until we reach the center of the Milky way in 2012.
What can we do to face the transition of 2012?
Well there isnt much we can do really. This event is at the hands of the universe. You can
prudently expect to loose power; you can expect your whole town to loose power. Telephone
systems both Cell and land line will probably not work either. This may only happen in areas,
and not the whole of the world, but it is certain it will happen. Remember back in 1989 when a
solar flares knocked out satellites in North America?
As much as I hate to join the side of those who seem to want the "sky to fall", I think it is
prudent to at least be prepared for a couple of weeks in the event that we loose power. Really
thats just a prudent idea anyway in the event of a normal natural disaster. Logic and common
since tell me that the chances of loosing power through this event are greater than 50 percent.
My gut tells me more like 90 percent.

Personally I'm not an "end of the world" type person. I do not believe for a minute the whole world is coming to an
end. Of course I base that view on my perspective of life and the meaning of it. As the year 2012 looms closer, I will
be prepared for the simple reason I understand astronomy enough to know we will be in danger of having to fend for
ourselves for a period of time. Solar Flares, the Sun's 11 year solar cycle and the galactic alignment of the Sun to the
Milky way are all quantifiable science. Its been at least 21,000 years since this specific alignment has occurred. Thats
a fact. Previous recorded solar flares have knocked out satellites before. We know that in 2012 we will have solar
flares more extreme than we have ever recorded. Its just common sense to hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.
I assure you as the time nears closer, the media will be swamped with people who tout the end of the world has
arrived, and we will literally burn up from the suns solar winds. That scenario is quite unlikely. Try not to be one of
those who gets caught up in that hype. If something to that scale actually happened, there would not be anything you
could do to prepare for that outcome, and it would truly be a planet killer. But as I've said, this cycle does in fact
repeat every 21,000 years and the planet is still here.
Personally I will keep supplies on hand for a couple of weeks, maybe longer. I will probably have freeze dried food,
and some water. That is the least I can do to feel better about 2012. I'm going to learn how to Can Food because that is
cheap and easy to do. I found a good site here How To Can.
I also will order some survival rations just because I'm practical and that seems like a practical thing to do. (They
keep 5 years). I added 3 links above for that if you are interested. And then I'm not going to worry about it. The only
thing that can be done is to be able to be self sufficient for a few weeks in the event we get hit with a gigantic solar
wind. Because if we do, we will surely be on our own for weeks until FEMA and the Government can get
communications back up again.
