Literal Bible Translation

The self limiting and self destructive nature of literal Bible translations
I would be the first to agree that there are sayings and analogies within the Bible that really ring true to
my common sense and reason. For instance the quote “cast your bread upon the waters and in many
days it shall return” is by far one of the most important to me.
A person believing the Bibles literal translation may actually throw a loaf of bread into the river and expect
it to come back in a few days. However to me the meaning of that phrase means that what you present to
the world in the form of thoughts and emotions, the substance of what you contribute to yourself by living
in harmony with God, is what shall return to you in days to come.
Of course these sayings can be interpreted in any number of ways and of course have been. I will
however continue to use the meanings that make common sense to me, as I know that what created me
endowed me with common sense to find truth. And I also know that truth resides in many places other
than the Bible; in nature particularly so.
There are those who dismiss any logical possibility of phenomenon that was not specifically included
inside the covers of the Bible. Religion has time and time again fell into a self created trap of ignorance
when following this belief system. The Bible did not tell of dinosaurs of which we have tens of thousands
of fossils, the bible did not tell of viruses that can cause disease, the bible did not tell that we are not the
center of the universe, to which they fought against in executing those who tried to shine knowledge to
the rest of us. They only recently accepted the idea of the Big Bang theory as scientific evidence was
indisputable.
Of course fundamental Christians still will not consider the idea of other life forms in the universe, just
because it wasn’t directly mentioned in the Bible; yet common sense screams of the logical possibility.
Fundamental Christians will not consider the possibility of the earth being billions of years old, even as
the evidence is undisputable. They can not consider that there may have been other civilizations that
predated the creation of the Bible by hundreds of thousands of years, simply because it was not stated.
How many new discoveries have to be made before one begins to notice that limiting your source of truth
to one limited source of knowledge is limiting yourself and your knowledge of the true reality of the world
and of course of God. Does one think that God would provide one limited source of knowledge then ask
you to ignore the common sense that he gave you? Does not God want everyone to progress, to expand,
to grow, to experience and contribute to the common good of all?
Did not God flood our world with truth, that resides in the patterns of nature. Did not God give us
emotions to clue us that we are in our out of harmony with our source energy?
Fundamental religious organizations would have you be limited in your thinking, so that if you are
confined within a limited area, then you would be more controllable. As it is Pastors and Priests can not
answer the many questions they receive, other than to say it is Gods will. Ask a Pastor why did a child die
at one years of age, and he may say, “well that is just Gods will”. Why is that all that he can come up with
after years and years of theology schooling? Because he can find no direct way to answer that question
from what is contained in the Bible.
If one looks for truth in all places, and opens his mind that God created millions of things that we simply
have not learned yet; if we explore the unknown with use of common sense and realize that God created
everything and that his truth must be everywhere, then we do not have to ask a pastor or look for an
answer that doesn’t exist in a book.
Everything in nature is a repeating pattern of life, continuously coming and going; days to nights, spring
to fall, rotations of the planets, rotations of the electrons, the sprout of new leaves and the falling of the
old ones. Yet since the bible does not directly say that we come here to live many lifetimes on earth, then
fundamental Christians will not consider the possibility, even as this premise answers all questions about
the fairness of life, the reason people are already born with specific personalities, validating the phrase
“to live by the sword to die by the sword”;
If someone asked me why did the one year old child die, I would say; The soul is eternal in nature and the
lifetimes we live are as common as changing out our cars every five years… our bodies carry us in the
physical world until it is time for us to leave. Our goals as spiritual souls, are not to complete our learning
or life experience in one lifetime but to take many lifetimes to experience the enormous lessons and
experiences here on earth. The passing of this child is not as limited in nature as we have been taught to
think. This child came here to either teach or learn a lesson that was very brief in nature. The child has
not sacrificed anything, for it is an eternal soul that has many other adventures ahead of it. The child
simply stepped into this world for a brief period of time, then back home.
Even the relationship with this child is not lost, since everyone is eternal in nature and reunion is
inevitable, on the other side as well as this one.
This is a common sense expanded view of life that one is able to consider when he looks for truth other
than one limited place. Looking for truth other than one person, one religion and one book.
