As you may have read on the home page, I once was a
professional landscaper. I preferred not to use conventional
trimmer straps as they restrict the movement of the trimmer
and in effect slow you down. I think most landscapers find this
to be true.
For some reason I had a huge amount of manual string
trimming on many of my accounts. There was one account, a
21 acre church that required 3 plus hours of constant string
trimming. It was this account that sowed the seeds of the
Trimmer Assist in my mind.
My first attempt was a crude version using a tool balancer as a
recoil system; which worked OK, but of course added an
additional 6 pounds of weight which was no good at all. Well,
within 1 week it had evolved into the most practical design
possible.
When I returned to that infamous church, I was prepared with
my new Trimmer Assist in tow. And with my hand on a bible I
can promise you that I was both surprised and disappointed
when I realised I had completed the whole job that day in about
1 hour. I was disappointed because I was actually having fun
string trimming this time - as hard to believe as that may be.
The Trimmer Assist was so comfortable with the 1 inch thick
quilted and padded should pad, that my shoulder never felt the
weight. The bungee system allows full movement of the string
trimmer while supporting the weight the whole time. This is
where it truly seems the string trimmer has gone weightless. I
was also able to move faster with the string trimmer because I
was comfortable the whole time. It is absolutely incredible, and
it truly is something that once you have tried it, you can no
longer go back to the way you used to do it.
